I love lyrics, almost as much as music itself. And I became sick of having to look them up on horrible lyrics sites. So here's my "iTunes Lyrics Finder".

It takes the song you're currently listening to in iTunes, fetches the lyrics, and goes searching for the artwork, and it will automatically import it if iTunes doesn't have it. Simple.

FAQ's

What do I need to run it?

  • A Windows machine. Have only tested it on Windows 7, but it should work from XP onwards.
  • iTunes. Have tested it with version 10.
  • An active internet connection.
  • .NET Framework 4. The installer will take care of that for you though.
  • Music. Goes without saying really...

Where did it go?

Search your start menu for 'iTunes', it shows up there. If you have XP... it's time for an upgrade. Seriously though, it should be in your start menu somewhere.

What about updates?

ClickOnce takes care of that for you. When I release a new version, you will be asked if you'd like to update.

Application won't start?

Make sure you have iTunes open before you launch the lyrics application.

Still no luck?

Time to get geeky. Open Explorer, and goto C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\Apps\2.0\The folder that isn't called Data\RandomFolderName\itun..tion_BigLongText\ and open the log.txt file. See if there's anything in there that looks even slightly obvious.

Don't want to get geeky?

Uninstall, and re-download the application. Sometimes it helps.

Artwork won't import (sometimes)?

Yeah, it does that. Haven't figured out why.

Is it safe to run?

Well, that's up to you to decide. I run the application from the install above, and my machine's fine.

Does it REALLY fetch the lyrics and artwork every time?

Nope! It caches it. Smart.

What's it written in, and can I get the source?

All written in C#, And maybe, if you ask nicely.
